Consultancy and technology services for arts accessibility
Give everyone access to art
Make arts accessibility part of your project from the outset. Create unique answers with real expertise, technology and production that’s fully managed by a single, artist-led, creative team.
We work with an experienced network, including deaf and disabled professionals, to create multiple solutions for access to artwork and exhibitions that maximise your budget.

Over 20 years of making art
Ak-Ses Service is brought to you by the team at Ben Fredericks Collaborations. Our collective team has years of firsthand experience making art that’s accessible for disabled and deaf audiences.
We’ve created immersive installation, exhibitions, theatre, VR/AR and moving image works with some of the UK’s best creative partners including:

“Their work pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with creative access.”
Fiona Slater, Head of Access and Equity at Science Museum Group
Arts accessibility that’s baked in from the start
Everyone deserves the same access to art. We help partners to plan from the beginning of their project, calling on a deaf and disabled network to make sure your budget delivers the access people truly need.
Solve multiple accessibilities with creative technology
We use technology to create a myriad of bespoke options for accessibility including AK-SES Ap, the app we designed. We have worked extensively with other artists and collaborators to make all kinds of digital projects widely accessible.
A team of creatives to manage production
Whether you choose to use AK-SES Ap or another type of technology, we are a team of artists and creatives who can manage the production process on your behalf. That’s one single point of contact to save you hours of time.
“Their approach to accessibility is really considered. They understand the needs of both artists and arts organisations, so both the work and the audience experience is greatly improved.”
Christopher Samuel,
Artist
“Their work is a key example of best practice and the fact they understand Access from a users, venue, and artist side means their access solution make for a all round great experience.”
John Kirby,
Attenborough Art Centre
“They have contributed to the All In programme as an Access Advisor. Their way of thinking about access is approachable and proactive and really makes a difference.”
Roberta Beattie,
Producer Manager at All In

Introducing AK-SES Ap
AK-SES Ap is a standalone app that uses Augmented Reality to add extra information to a 2D artwork. By scanning the artwork with a camera phone, the app recognises the image and display creative, useful content on top of it.
Developed by our in-house creative team, AK-SES Ap offers multiple options for access from audio to creative captioning to a BSL interpreter that can walk around exhibits alongside you, and much more.
